In this article we will guide you step-by-step on how to embed Google reviews on your website using ReviewsOnMyWebsite’s widget. Let’s start by creating a new account. Next, add your business by specifying its name and website url.

Enter your business name and website

In the next few steps we will go over the process of connecting your reviews and customizing the widget appearance.

Step 1: Connect your reviews

We offer two methods of connecting Google reviews. The first and the recommended method requires you to authorize our app with Google in order to be able to retrieve the reviews. Simply click the first Connect button on the page and follow the prompts.

Once authorized, it will display the list of businesses available to you. Click on the business that you want to get the reviews from and our system will take care of the rest.

Note: this method will only work if the business is a verified listing on Google and you have the access to manage it.

The second method requires no Google authorization. Simply start typing in your business name in the search field and click on your business when it appears in the auto-suggest box as shown below. Make sure you type in your business name exactly as it appears in Google.

Autocomplete business lookup

Click on your business and then “Connect”. Depending on the number of Google reviews your business has, it might take up to a few minutes to retrieve them.

Note: if you have a service-area business and your address is not publicly available on Google,  your business is not going to show up in the auto-complete field outlined above. Instead, type in the business name exactly as it appears in your Google My Business listing along with the city that you service and click Connect.

Step 2: Customize widget appearance

First, create a new widget by clicking “Create new” on the Website Widget page. Next, customize the appearance of the widget by selecting how many reviews to display, template, font and color of the reviews. Click “Save” once you are happy with the appearance.

Step 3: Embed reviews on your website

Now it’s time to showcase your reviews on a website. On the Website Widget tab click “Embed code”. Copy and paste the provided code snippet into your website where you wish your reviews to show up. You should see your Google reviews appear on your web-page after refreshing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I can’t find my business using the auto-suggest tool. Help!

A: It is common for service-area businesses that don’t have a physical address to not appear in the auto-complete search results. To retrieve reviews for a service-area business you will need to type in the business name exactly as it appears in your Google My Business listing along with the city that you service and click Connect.

One way to ensure that you have the correct query is to search for it in Google and if your business appears on the right as per the following example, use that query to connect your reviews.
